Have you ever dreamt of taking your business global? Do you know that a multilingual website can help you reach out to potential customers in other parts of the World? Until now, going global seemed to be one of those things that only big companies could afford. But that has certainly changed, and entering new markets has become accessible – for everyone!

If you run your website on WordPress, you have made a good choice: it is a stable, popular, and extensible system. WordPress also makes running multilingual websites easy. With the new memoQ WordPress Connector, having your website translated into multiple languages has become even easier.

Where to start?

As every extension to core WordPress functionality, internationalization (making the website multilingual) comes in the form of plugins. By far the most popular is the set of WPML plugins developed by OnTheGoSystems. After having installed the required plugins, your site is ready to support multilingual content. Now, what's next? You are still missing something very important: the translations for your existing content assets.

For a long time, WordPress website managers had to copy and paste source content from WordPress, then translate it, and paste it back to the proper WordPress admin page. A nightmare! The good news is there is an automated alternative to this; all you need to do is look for a translation agency using memoQ server [1]. The translation agency will use a CMS Integration component provided by Kilgray that will integrate their memoQ server to your WordPress site. The integration takes no longer than 5 minutes and requires only few a clicks on your site. You do not even need to grant access to your site to the agency. Once this integration is set, you are ready to go!

What makes the translation process seamless?

We refer to it as a seamless workflow because all you need to do is select the translatable content assets (static pages, posts, image metadata, banners, forms, portfolio items, product pages, testimonials and so on and on) and submit them to your vendor in the form of a batch, a Purchase Order (PO). Depending on your mutual agreement, the translation agency can start working on the content right away or quote the project in response to your PO. When the translation agency delivers the final work to your website, there is absolutely no need for any kind of manual intervention on your side: the site becomes multilingual and users in different parts of the world will be able to read your site on their native language.

Ahem. But my contents change frequently!

No problem! Dynamic contents make a website lively.

If you update content on your website, all you need to do is submit changed content assets to your translation agency. Since your translation agency works with memoQ Server, it will use a technology called translation memory (TM), an engine which saves the previous translations they have done for you. The translation memory is capable of recycling previous translations, and at the end of the day, you only need to pay for updates of your source text (the original version).

Imagine you updated the description of one of your product pages to include a new feature. It is only three sentences in a 500-words page. If you use the memoQ WordPress Connector, you can easily submit the update for translation, and best of all, you will only pay for what you update, the few dozens of new words.

We said it: It is simple, it is easy!
