As part of our Sales Hubs introduction series, we spoke with Christian Großpietsch, Solution Engineer at memoQ’s DACH Hub. He shared what drew him to memoQ, his approach to solving complex workflows, and his passion for cycling, cooking, and game design.
Hi Christian, please introduce yourself in a few words!
Hello or ‘Moin’ as we say here in Hamburg, Germany. My name is Christian Großpietsch, and I am a Solutions Engineer at memoQ. I studied computer science and technical translation and worked at two large LSPs in Hamburg.
When and why did you join memoQ?
I joined memoQ at the beginning of 2023. I was already involved with memoQ and had always wanted to work here.
It wasn't just memoQfest that fascinated me, but also the tasks that I could easily complete with memoQ in my previous job. At some point, I knew I wanted to sit on the other side of the table. A vacancy at memoQ, a short CV from me, and the dream came true!
What does your current position entail?
As a Solution Engineer in the DACH Hub, I am a part of the sales team. I demo memoQ to interested parties, advise customers on the optimal use of our software, and serve as the primary contact for technical questions. From time to time, I can also be found at trade fairs or conferences.
What do you enjoy most about your position?
From a technical point of view, I find it particularly exciting to see our customers’ many different requirements and workflows and how we can implement them with memoQ. The different requirements regularly challenge me to deepen my knowledge and keep myself up to date.
Apart from that, it's simply a lot of fun working with an international team at such a high level!
What do you like most about the translation industry?
It's not just the languages that are different, but also the people. I find that exciting, and I enjoy learning something new every day. Be it part of the language or part of the culture. It's also great to bring people together despite the different languages, whether it's an instruction manual, a catalogue, or the new trailer for a video game. You can't do it without translation!
How would you describe the memoQ team?
It's not just a team, it's more than that! Everyone is helpful and at a highly professional level! Working together is a lot of fun, and even after work, you know why you want to work here!
What are your hobbies?
There are a few. I started cycling during the pandemic (perhaps it’s an age thing), and I'm often out with my camera. I like cooking and, when my two girls leave me with any energy, I study game design on a part-time basis.
