Now based in France with his dog Turi, he helps game developers and localization teams enhance their global workflows with memoQ’s technology.
Hi Florian, please introduce yourself in a few words!I was born in France to a French father and a Dutch mother. I moved to the Netherlands when I was five, where I studied and lived until I was twenty-five, including a year abroad as an Erasmus student in Romania. After Romania, I moved to Spain, where I spent nearly twelve years before returning to France. I now live in France with my dog, Turi.
When and why did you join memoQ?
I joined memoQ in October 2023 because it was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my biggest passions: languages and gaming.
What does your current position entail?
Being a BDM (Business Development Manager) for the gaming team at memoQ means building and nurturing relationships with game developers, publishers, and localization providers, helping them streamline their multilingual workflows with memoQ’s technology. It’s about understanding both the gaming industry’s creative side and its technical localization needs to craft solutions that make global game releases smoother and more efficient.
What do you enjoy most about your position?
Getting to talk about games and languages every day.
What do you like most about the translation industry?
I’ve always found languages fascinating, and this industry allows me to constantly discuss them. Plus, people in both gaming and localization tend to be incredibly friendly and passionate.
How would you describe the memoQ team?
Very human and people-oriented. It’s amazing to see so many colleagues who genuinely care about others, whether it's clients, prospects, or teammates, everyone at memoQ truly wants others to succeed and be happy.
What are your hobbies?
Gaming (obviously!). Spending time with my dog and going for walks.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I’d also like to mention some of my favorite games, which include Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Europa Universalis.
