As part of our Sales Hubs introduction series, we spoke with Jure, Solution Engineer Coordinator at memoQ's DACH Hub. He shared how he combines technology with creativity, what drives his problem-solving mindset, and how he unwinds with photography, music, and late-afternoon runs.
Hi Jure, please introduce yourself in a few words!
Hi, I’m Jure, a solution engineer at memoQ. In my daily work, I mostly try to understand clients’ or colleagues’ challenges and prepare solutions for them. In general, I like to combine technical aspects with human interactions and try to find a good balance. One of my pillars is creativity and a constant drive to find a solution, or at least a compromise.
When and why did you join memoQ?
I joined memoQ about nine years ago. Before that, I worked for an LSP that was actually a reseller for a competing TMS – but we also used memoQ. I really liked it from the start, especially because it helped me translate content created with another problematic tool. Over time, I specialized in memoQ, and when I started attending memoQfest, I liked it even more. At one of the memoQfests, I gave a short presentation, and afterwards I received an offer to join memoQ – one I couldn’t refuse 😊
What does your current position entail?
Currently, I’m wearing a couple of hats, but mainly I provide technical support for both pre-sale and post-sale activities. These include demos, support during trials, helping with RFIs, consultancy on workflows and server optimization, troubleshooting, etc. On top of that, I also help monitor the competitive market and the industry, in general. I support our team of solution engineers in addressing common challenges and serve as a link between departments.
What do you enjoy most about your position?
It’s very satisfying for me to see that the solutions we come up with for clients actually work, and that they’re happy with them. It also feels great when we resolve a big problem or help optimize performance, even though that process can sometimes be a bit painful and stressful. I also really enjoy meeting colleagues from all over the world and discussing their challenges. It’s a very nice industry to work in, despite all the ever-changing global situations.
What do you like most about the translation industry?
It’s a creative and evolving industry. That brings big opportunities and opens up new possibilities – which is exciting for me to explore. Also, the people I mostly work with are generally great – from linguists and project managers to team leads.
How would you describe the memoQ team?
It’s a team of colleagues who are passionate about what we do and who care for each other.
What are your hobbies?
I like sports, especially running in the late afternoons and cycling. No watches, no meters – just the road and surroundings. I can play a few songs on the guitar, and I enjoy photography.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Listen to your inner voice and go after it.
