In this interview, we introduce Maria, Customer Success Manager at memoQ’s Gaming Hub. She shares what her role involves and how she supports game localization teams working across languages, content, and technology.

Hi Maria, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hello everyone, my name is Maria, and I am the Customer Success Manager of the Gaming Hub. In the Gaming Hub, we help gaming industry clients, such as LSPs, game dev studios, and large enterprises, translate and materialize their games, so that gamers all around the world can play and enjoy wonderful stories and breathtaking narratives.

When and why did you join memoQ? 

I joined memoQ almost four years ago. I applied for the position of Gaming Customer Success Manager because I no longer wanted to work as a Project Manager. Back then, my wish was to find a job that combined my love for languages with my love for gaming. And voilà, the magic happened, and after a few interviews, I joined the memoQ team.

What does your current position entail? 

Being a Customer Success Manager (CSM) entails being the customer’s best friend at memoQ, putting yourself in their shoes to experience what they experience and find the best solution for them. We organize customers’ renewals, upsell new products, and schedule engagement and regular catch-up calls. The CSM is also the point of contact who represents the customer to other internal memoQ departments, such as Production, Support, Marketing, etc.

What do you enjoy most about your position?

What I enjoy most about my position is the direct connection with customers. I love meeting them, speaking with their teams, and learning more about what they do. I’m interested in the games they work on, their company context, and the languages they translate into. I especially enjoy meeting clients in person at gaming industry events. We attend several events each year, and nothing compares to the face-to-face interaction: seeing their reactions, sharing a laugh, and truly understanding their challenges and where our team can best support them. We talk about our favorite titles, the first games we played as kids, and exchange stories, which reminds me why working in the gaming industry is so special.

What do you like most about the translation industry?

What I like most about the translation industry is that it sits right at the crossroads of language, culture, and technology. I especially enjoy the collaborative nature of the industry: working with clients from all over the world, learning how different teams think and operate, and helping them create great gaming content. It’s rewarding to see how good localization can make a game feel truly native and connect with users in a meaningful way.

How would you describe the memoQ team? 

The memoQ team is so colorful and spread all around the world. We have colleagues based in Japan, South Korea, Canada, North and South America, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates, and so on. This is what enticed me to join the company in the first place. Not just that memoQ is one of the best TMS solutions there is, but also that the people behind it are exactly the kind of people I wanted to work with and learn from.

What are your hobbies?

In my spare time, I like to walk outside and explore the city. I play video and computer games, read books, watch movies and series, do pilates, enjoy ice skating, and take singing lessons.
