We made it. The memoQFest, Kilgray's first user conference is over and it was a roaring success.
More than 120 people from 22 countries came to see what's happening, and we did not receive a single evaluation sheet with a 'no' or 'partly' answer to the question: 'Were you satisfied with the event?'. Not bad for a first conference. Quite frankly, five years ago when we founded Kilgray with Gábor and Balázs I did not even believe this would ever happen.
It's pretty hard to sum up the conference in a short blog entry and I don't even attempt it. Kevin Lossner already wrote about it in length. When the conference was over, I felt a relief. I went to bed, and in the course of a single day, I fell asleep three times. However, yesterday I started missing the memorable moments.
It's amazing what things happen at a conference. Some of them you know about as an organizer, some of them you don't. I will probably take the time to write about a few. But now it's time I went to work, again to the office, as I have to take care of so many things. Wrapping up the conference is not at all easier than organizing it! We need to publish presentations, we need to edit the videos and audio recordings, we need to thank the participants, settle the remaining bills, and of course do the daily business.
For a week, Kilgray was more or less out of office. It was a fantastic week. We ordered a new bunch of business cards for everyone at the company, and in the end I did not give my business card to anyone. I was really glad to see that everyone knew me.
Now it's time to return to daily business. Recharged. We have shifted into the next gear.
