We know you constantly seek to refine quality assurance (QA) processes for your translations because we solicit your feedback and requests for new features all the time. That’s why we constantly refine and add Quality Assurance features in memoQ. Our goal is to help you avoid the potentially serious consequences of translation errors and to spend less time doing so.
QA runs checks objective parameters but needs your fine-tuning to balance between catching all that’s important to you and avoiding false positives. memoQ’s QA module is overloaded with options so you can perform QA checks as you see fit. QA also automates as much of the process as possible—almost any kind of automated quality check can be run on your translations in memoQ.
Other features in memoQ are designed to help you resolve, report, and provide feedback on errors once they are found. The reports and feedback make it easier for you to discuss results with those involved in the process. And then you can use a variety of features in memoQ to help eliminate repeat occurrences.
You can choose the settings for Automatic Quality Control, to spot differences between the source and target documents as you translate.
Along with QA for a long list of machine-detectable errors, there is also Linguistic Quality Assurance, which helps human reviewers provide relevant feedback on a translator’s work. Options are available for using penalty points, specifying the severity of errors, and requiring a translator’s feedback on errors before delivering a document.
New in memoQ 9.0, you can now set severity levels for all QA options whether they are turned on or off in your current QA settings. If you are one of those translators who likes to use a single QA settings file and tweak it on the go, then you will appreciate the new “checkbox” option on the Severity tab.
Exporting QA reports of translation documents is one of the most popular features in memoQ’s Quality Assurance module. In memoQ 9.0, the QA reports are even more useful. Now you can also export QA reports on translation memories!
What does this mean for you? In addition to being able to find and resolve errors in a TM before you use it, you can also use the detailed report to support decisions about your pricing. Simply run a QA check on any given TM and export it with one click. You will get the same detailed HTML report that you get when running QA on translation documents. Does your price calculation include extra work that might be needed to resolve problems identified in the translation memory you receive to work with? Is the translation memory in line with the term base? Use the objective information in memoQ’s QA report to start a discussion with your client about pricing based on the scope of work entailed.
